Cynthia Harrison
Cynthia Harrison has published a dozen novels, a chapbook of poetry, several short stories and a creative wriitng guide. At last count her blog at cynthiaharrison.blog has 2740+ posts. She has written hundreds of book reviews for RT Book Reviews and Publishers Weekly. Her first novels were self-published until she signed on with e-publisher The Wild Rose Press in 2012. Before her published books, she taught literature and writing to high school at-risk students and later college freshmen. Her first (and only non-fiction) title is still available (free) from Amazon Kindle Unlimited. This book was written for her college students who wanted to write many different things--songs, memoirs, television scripts and blog posts--so after researching and compiling a large order of print-outs from the copy center each semester, she finally turned the copies into a book. It caught on with the general public and continues to be her best-selling work. Doing the homework is optional.
Cindy and her publisher have teamed with Amazon for several projects including audio versions of some of her novels, and a reprint of Blue Heaven. Some of her early novels are KDP exclusives, although she's been with TWRP for the majority of her works. Her romance novels are edgy as are her cozy mysteries. There's a certain Cynthia Harrison sass to all of them. She's not sure how that will translate to Regency England or if Jane Austen would approve. After college, she vowed not to read any more white male writers, but she never fell out of love with Shakespeare and became hooked by Raymond Carver and David Lodge. Her favorite female authors, aside from dear Jane Austen, are Margaret Atwood, Alice Munro, Louise Erdrich, Barbara Kingsolver, Anne Tyler and Alice Hoffman. In the romance and mystery genres she's a fan of Mary Balogh, Georgette Heyer, Becky Masterman, Lee Child, Elly Griffiths, Ann Cleeves, Sara Paretsky and Sue Grafton. If she had to choose between writing and reading she would despair as both fill her days.
Cindy has been married to Al for many a moon and they share two sons and three grandchildren. Al is a fervent golfer which allows Cindy many writing (and reading) hours. Together they love to discuss current affairs, try new restaurants, watch movies and take road trips. They love their friends, old and new. When they moved to Florida, they had a condo in St Pete but later moved to a single level home, which had always been a dream of Cindy's. It's in a quiet part of the coast, off the beaten snowbird path, although a hurricane did find them in 2022. They are almost done repairing what was already a fixer-upper. Their road trips often take them cross-country to visit their grandchildren...and of course their kids. They're pondering trips to national parks and a return to Europe. Cindy's motto is "Have Laptop+Kindle, Will Travel."
