mercury retrograde

Never did contact any agents to pitch The Paris Notebook. For a lot of reasons, I want to pitch the book I’m working on now instead. And anyway that window’s closed for awhile. Agents are people too, and they also have Christmas in less than a week! Not to mention Mercury’s going retrograde so the stars say it’s not a great time to pitch.

When Jennifer Lopez wanted to change the date of her wedding to Ben Affleck because an astrologer told her to, I thought she was crazy. But Mercury retrograde has proven to me time and again that during these periods, it’s better to not start new things but to  retrench and revise. Which is what I’m doing.

I hoped to have the first act revised by Christmas, and it looks like that will happen. January is for the long middle of the book, and then I hope to finish the revision in late February so I can put it away for a week or so and then read it again for a final polish before sending it out after March 10, when Mercury will be  shining bright again.

  1. I didn’t take mercury in retrograde seriously until I started seeing an acupuncturist three years ago. I described what was going on for me, and she explained that mercury was in retrograde and what I was experiencing fit the profile. Thanks for the heads up, Cindy. This will create some challenges for the beginning of the new year.

  2. I was really hoping to tie up loose ends before the end of the year. But then I realised with family commitments over Christmas, this is probably a stressful enough time as it is. So I’m going to try… and if it works, wonderful, and if it doesn’t, I’m not going to obsess over it.
