Back to School

First day of classes yesterday. College writing, American Lit, and Creative Writing. I didn’t broadcast my little block of blogs or anything, but since my email address is (and that IS on my syllabi until I get a campus email address) anyone with a little internet intelligence can figure out that I have a website.

And I did mention blogs to my creative writing class when I was talking about the various forms their work might take this semester. Only a few people in that class confessed to reading blogs, so I think I’m safe, but just in case I put a disclaimer up at In The Pink. I swear more there.

And I’m not going to talk about campus politics here. Ever. For one thing, I don’t know much, and for another, I really don’t care about it. One of the few advantages of being adjunct stafff is that we don’t have to concern ourselves with the internal struggles of the department.

I’m loving the whole back to school thing. My college writing class is full of just out of high school types, first day of class eyes and all. It’s sweet. Really. And then the Lit class, they’ve been here awhile, but still seemed like a good group. The writers, well, I am just so thrilled to be doing this. I should have done it before, signed up to teach community ed or something. That’s how much I think I’m going to love teaching creative writing.

What remains to be seen is how much of my own writing I will get done now that I have committed to the folly of three preps.
